As reported by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette: "The Arkansas Racing Commission expects to approve electronic-gambling regulations when it meets Tuesday in Little Rock, the agency manager says, bringing another wagering option a step closer to reality at the state's two parimutuel racetracks.

"As drafted, the rules authorize around-the-clock betting — except for Christmas Day and Easter Sunday — on as many as 1, 000 machines each at the Oaklawn Park thoroughbred racetrack in Hot Springs and Southland Greyhound Park in West Memphis.

"…Oaklawn and Southland have awaited state approval of the regulations since voters in their home cities approved adding the electronic machines to their gambling menu in special elections Nov. 8. The referendums derived from enabling state legislation, Act 1151 of 2005, which passed into law without Gov. Mike Huckabee's signature…"
