As reported by Reuters: "Gaming conglomerate Rank said on Friday it had sold the Clermont Club, one of London's most glamorous
casinos and a former haunt of missing murder suspect, aristocrat Lord Lucan.
"Rank said it had sold the casino in Mayfair for 31 million pounds to Singapore investment firm BIL International, linked to Malaysian billionaire Quek Leng Chan, as it focuses on mainstream casinos for the general public.
"…The Clermont Club, which it acquired in 1990 as part of the purchase of Mecca Leisure, was the favourite gaming house of Lord Lucan, who vanished in 1974 after his children's nanny was found beaten to death in the basement of his London home.
"…'The sale of the Clermont Club is in line with our strategy of focussing on the mainstream gaming market, where we believe there is most to gain from changes to UK
gambling regulations,' said Rank Chief Executive Ian Burke"
