The Bicycle Casino's Legends of Poker, considered one of the most prestigious tournament series
on the circuit today, is once again hosting thousands of tournament players
for their month long poker extravaganza.
As an unprecedented poker fever continues to sweep the country, this
year's month long tribute to poker is turning into one of the largest poker
tournaments in the history of The Bicycle Casino, with an estimated prize
pool of over $10,000,000, including a 2006 Cadillac giveaway and $1.7
million in guaranteed prize money over several events. It is estimated that
the first place winner of this year's Legends final event, the World Poker
Tour No-Limit Hold'em Championship is guaranteed to take home $1,500,000!
The
casino is pulling out all the stops, making sure that they will be
able to accommodate the throngs of new players as well as the seasoned
pros. This landmark tournament draws poker enthusiasts from around the
world for a month of high stakes gambling and the opportunity to put their
skills "on the table" and compete against the "best of the best!" The
Bicycle Casino hosted more than 5,000 people last year throughout August,
which added up to more than $4.5 million in prize pool monies. This year's
event indicates that "The Bike" will entertain more than 6,000 attendees
and the championship is expected to draw record numbers of avid poker
aficionados.
With 27 events and buy-ins ranging from $100 to $10,000, the WPT
No-Limit "Texas" Hold'em Championship beginning on Saturday, August 26th,
is the final event and the cornerstone of the Legends tournament. As the
premiere Los Angeles stop on the World Poker Tour, the Legends Championship
final table will be filmed for television on August 30th at 5:15PM for the
Travel Channel.
As always, ladies deserve special attention at the Bike, and they get
it! Legends "Ladies Poker Party," held August 19th, was a phenomenal
success, with hundreds of women gathering for a day of poker, fun and
fundraising, supporting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation -- "Go
All In For the Cure" efforts. The event raised thousands not only in
percentage of prize pool raised, but with a live online auction, sale of
special event t-shirts, jewelry and apparel and personal donations. The
final table was streamed live via the Internet on the Bicycle Casino's
"Live at the Bike" show, the exclusive live cash game shot directly from
the casino floor Monday through Friday night from 7PM - 10PM, P.D.T.,
sharing the intricacies of high stakes poker over the web. Sixteen cameras
picked up all the action as the women battled it out over the felt to win a
seat into the televised WPT's "Ladies Night Out Invitational" and a chance
to win a $25,000 seat into the WPT's Championship next spring at the famed
Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event was won by Kelli
Griggs, a breast cancer survivor herself, who will now go on to represent
the Bicycle Casino in the WPT's "Ladies Night Out Invitational," scheduled
to be filmed at the casino on Thursday, August 31st at 5:00P.M. Winner
Griggs will be playing against the top female stars of poker, including
Joanna "JJ" Liu, Vanessa Rousso, Anahit Galajian, Erica Schoenberg and
defending champion, Jennifer Tilly.
Both the WPT Championship and the WPT "Ladies Night Out Invitational"
will be filmed at the casino, on August 30th and 31st respectively at
5:00PM. Come early to get your seat as an audience participant for both
events and watch the "best of the best" to see who will walk away with a
