As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer: "If it seemed as if Harrah's Chester
Casino and Racetrack wasn't quite ready for prime time yesterday, well, the Delaware Valley's newest entertainment venue isn't pretending to be anything but a work in progress.
"'This is Phase One of a very big project, and that project is to bring a complete entertainment experience to Chester and Delaware County,' said Vince Donlevie, executive vice president and general manager of the track.
"…So although parts of the infield and much of the facility are still under construction, it was still a grand opening at Harrah's Chester for 4,000 to 5,000 harness fans in the grandstand and Eagles fans crowded into the facility's one open sports bar.
"…For now, the slots side of the business remains a promise behind gargantuan glass walls, where ladders and paint cans currently reside. The slots area is on schedule for a January opening, pending the granting of licenses from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board…"
