As reported by the Sun Herald: "The American
Gaming Association is shopping for a venue to hold a seminar next spring, but tourism officials are wary of any event that would compete with the Southern Gaming Summit, which for years has been the Coast's biggest convention.
"Frank Fahrenkopf, the executive director of the national association, approached the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Tuesday about hosting an educational forum in April or May but failed to get a booking. The timing of the event would have been too close to the Southern Gaming Summit, which returns to the Coliseum May 9-10. The Harrison County Tourism Commission also on Tuesday passed a resolution in support of the summit. They worried about any event that would compete with the summit, especially if it had a rotating venue.
"Fahrenkopf said he also planned to consider Beau Rivage's convention area as well as locations in New Orleans..."
