Walk into any Seminole casino in Florida after not having gone for more than a month and get ready for a huge surprise. The
casinos are getting larger, doubling and sometimes tripling in size to the point that non-regular casino goers might not even recognize them from the last time they went.
The Seminole Hard Rock Casino is already like a mini Las Vegas, full of shops, bars, pools, people, and slot machines. Now, the Cocounut Creek Seminole Casino is preparing for the very real possibility of actual Vegas style games, including America's favorite, blackjack.
The employees at the Creek Casino are buzzing about the new hotel being built there and future of the entire area which will become a world of adult entertainment that will rival the Hard Rock.
If you ask politicians in Florida, or read the local newspapers, you may find some debate about whether Vegas style
gaming will be allowed in the future. However, ask any bartender at the casino and you will hear a different story.
"They already have space planned, the designs are all done, permits have been requested," says Joe, a bartender at the Coconut Creek casino since 2001. "As soon as they get the approval (which they expect to get) the doors will be open."
Already the Cococnut Creek casino has expanded with the anticipation of getting Vegas style slots instead of the bingo slots they use now. If they get the blackjack games they desire, they surely will be competing with all the major casinos in the region.
