The Swedish Tax Board says that sites providing gambling related content along with links to gambling sites are paid by the gaming operator sites for every player who clicks through. They announced this week that they will be actively pursuing those 'affiliates' who haven't paid taxes for that income, to gain back taxes and possibly to prosecute some for tax evasion.

Dag Hardyson, national project leader of the Tax Board's Internet Unit said, "It's not individual poker players we're after, it's sites who live on sending players through to gaming sites,"

"There are more advanced pages which have agreements with gambling sites and which earn a proportion of the amount the players spend. For some the income can be several million kronor," Dag Hardyson said.

The process for the Swedish tax board will be two-fold. First, they will go after the owners of poker sites to gain back taxes, and the next step will be to possibly prosecute them for tax evasion.
