The world of fantasy football, an industry estimated to be worth several billion dollars, will now become the focus of top sportsbook firm, Station Casinos. The company, located in Las Vegas, which claims to be the 5th largest bookie in the US, will start taking bets on upcoming player statistics.

The new betting scheme will allow people to place wagers on how well an NFL football player will do each week with respect to fantasy scoring. Therefore, instead of the traditional bets such as over/under and picking the outcomes of individual team matchups, you can now bet on the fantasy point totals of each player.

"We've been pushing for this type of offering for several years now," said Fantasy Football enthusiast Scott Johnson. "It gives us more options each week to bet on, especially when we see unfavorable lines."

Johnson went on to say, "The hard work and research done each week for the league can now integrate with our overall NFL betting strategies."

The fantasy football industry, which has been excluded from the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), has been estimated at more than $1 billion dollars per year in total spending.

Station Casinos does not offer fantasy league programs, just the chance to bet on fantasy projections. Each week they will offer a 24-player roster including 8 quarterbacks and 8 running backs, hand-chosen by top odds-makers. The lines will be created using traditional methods such as recent performance, injuries, weather, and other trend factors.

It should be noted, Station Casinos paid over $60,000 to lobbyists for issues related to Internet gambling in the first half of 2007.
