As reported by Reuters: "South Africa's Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) will be closely scrutinising the country's gambling sector and estate agents to guard against money laundering, the finance minister said on Monday.

"…'There are several sectors which need to demonstrate further compliance,' Finance Minister Trevor Manuel told parliament.

"'For example, the FIC will be closely scrutinising the casino and gambling sector and estate agents in the coming period.'

"…FIC director Murray Michell said the centre's investigators would be interacting 'aggressively' with those two sectors, which were considered particularly vulnerable to being abused by money launderers and criminals."
