Pennsylvania is now the latest state to open up to the idea of casino gambling, as, no Monday, the state oversaw the opening of the first stand alone casino, the Mount Airy Casino Resort.

It was a bittersweet day for the casinos owner, Louis DeNaples, who was excited about the opening of the casino, but has to still be cautious about the pending investigation of a grand jury.

The investigation is into whether DeNaples lied to the gaming board about his association with organized crime. If it is found that he did indeed lie, then his gaming license could be revoked.

Outside of his possible legal trouble, DeNaples has plans of expanding the casino, which currently contains about 2,500 slot machines, a 188 room hotel, which is not yet open, and four restaurants. He plans to add more slots, a pool, retail shops, a conference center, and 212 more hotel rooms to the property.

The casino is one of five stand alone casinos in Pennsylvania to add to the five casinos already in place in the states horse tracks. The money generated by the casinos will be used, as is the case in other states, to help out the financial stability of the state.

The four other stand alone casinos will follow Mount Airy and hopefully be open soon.
