Macau has surpassed Las Vegas as the gambling capital of the world, that is no surprise to people any more. What might come as a surprise is just how far ahead of Las Vegas that Macau is.

The first quarter revenue numbers show that Macau is in a league of their own. They generated $3.8 billion for the first quarter. That is an increase of sixty two percent.

Las Vegas, on the other hand, is experiencing difficulty generating revenue. The economy in the United States has hurt the casinos where it counts the most, revenue dollars. Macau doubled Las Vegas in revenue in the year's first two months.

The difference between the two gambling areas goes farther than just the American economy. Macau is now entertaining the high roller clientele that used to travel to Las Vegas.

The high rollers from China now do not have to travel across the world to gamble, they simply go to Macau. The fact that the area is growing, does not mean American companies are not making money.

Several big companies with big names behind them such as Steve Wynne and Sheldon Adelson have built big luxurious Las Vegas style casinos in Macau. Others are also following suit.

The loosening of gambling laws in states in America, coupled with the boom in Macau, had created a dilemma for casino owners in Las Vegas. They did what any good business owner would do, they expanded their operations to include Macau, and it has paid off so far.
