Midlothian Loses Casino Bid

As reported by the Midlothian Today: "The gamble to make Midlothian the home of Britain's only super casino has failed.

"Last week the Casino Advisory Panel announced the shortlist of eight successful proposals for the regional casino and 31 for the small and large-scale casinos with Midlothian Council's bid failing to make the cut.

"With the backing of a Straiton landowner and an international company, the local authority was hoping to site the 5,000 square metre development on land between the A701 at Straiton and Hillend.

"It was anticipated the £140 million casino, with hotel and conference facilities, would generate 1000 jobs…"
