As reported by the Business Review: "The CEO of Empire Racing Associates LLC said the high number of potential bidders on the racing franchise now held by the
New York Racing Association could mean good things for his group.
"Jeff Perlee said Monday that the aim of his group has been to sell itself as 'emphatically New York.' With out-of-state groups like Magna Entertainment and Churchill Downs among the 16 saying they will bid, Perlee said that will make Empire Racing Associates more unique.
"…Under the rules of the bidding process, interested parties had to notify the Ad Hoc Committee on the Future of Racing by the close of business on June 30. Their formal bids have to be filed by Aug. 15.
"…The Ad Hoc Committee has until Sept. 15 to make recommendations about the best bidder, though no action is expected in Albany until after Jan. 1, when a new governor will take office…"
