USC retained its top spot in the latest college football polls, although LSU's strong showing over South Carolina has inched them closer to the Trojans and the top spot.
USC gathered 43 first place votes to LSU's 22, but the total number of points got much closer as the Trojans have 1,601 to the Tigers 1,580.
Oklahoma is third in the polls, but there is a significant drop off in the points.

The United States has made an offer to settle the dispute regarding services in the online gambling issue with the European Union.
The U.S. offer to the EU involves opening areas that include storage, warehouse services and technical testing to compensate for the gaming restrictions implemented with the passing of last year's Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

Boyd Gaming, one of the country's largest gambling companies, is putting plans on hold for their new casino facility in South Florida.
Boyd Gaming is the parent company of Dania Jai-Alai in Broward County and it has a state license to operate slots at the site. Until now, Boyd Gaming has not installed those slots and is deferring any plans for building a new casino facility until a further time.

Players have been complaining to some of the sites they play online poker with, claiming that their information is being shared without their consent. Those complaints have triggered action by one of the World's biggest online poker sites.
Poker Stars is leading the charge by listening to their player complaints and is now making access to personal information much harder to attain, even requiring that the individual players grant permission for their info to be shared.

In late July of this year a little known group called The Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association (iMEGA), filed a lawsuit against the United States Department of Justice (USDJ) requesting a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the enforcement of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). iMEGA, no longer a little known group, claimed the UIGEA violated their members' first amendment rights and therefore should be awarded the TRO.

Atlantic City is in the middle of a turn over of their once proud casino industry. On Sunday morning, a fire set back the reconstruction efforts at one of their new casinos, the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
A fire broke out inside a 43 story building that has been under construction by the casino. The blaze took place between 7:30 and 8:00 and the fire department had it under control by about 10:00 A.M.

In Tennessee, there have been three mistakes made by the state lottery, with the latest one costing the state an estimated $25,000.

Back in July of this year, Truy Huu Phung, was playing a slot machine at Catfish Bend Casino, out of nowhere he began bashing the machine with his right hand. Upon finishing, he checked around, saw nobody saw the incident, and quietly slipped out of the casino.

At 12:25 PM today, Saturday, September 22, both Broward County racetracks, Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino and The Isle Casino & Racing at Pompano Park, will begin simulcasting races from other racetracks.
A 1996 law that was passed by the legislature that banned simulcasting at tracks except when they had live racing, was overturned as unconstitutional.

Police headed into a house known around town as The Shack and raided the place arresting 10 people and charging them with illegal gambling, another 7 people were cited for playing illegal gambling games.
The house, located on the 3700 block of North Keystone Avenue, has been raided before, but this time police seized a pull tab machine, tickets, video equipment and about $2500 in cash.
The house is referred to as a pea shake house.

Five months ago a deal was in place for Ameristar to purchase the Resorts East Chicago Riverboat casino. On late Tuesday, the deal was finalized, meaning Ameristar will now enter its seventh casino market.
Mississippi, Colorado, Iowa, Missouri, and Nevada all have casinos operated by Ameristar running already, the Indiana casino they just bought just adds to the list.
The company has been talking about expansion, but not by building, by acquisition.

The highly anticipated results of the extensive UK Gambling Prevalence Study were released yesterday and the percent of problem gamblers, the study concluded, were dramatically lower than expected.
