Florida Given 60 Days to Deal With Seminoles Over Full Gambling

The state of Florida has 60 days to reach an agreement with the Seminole Indian Tribe of Florida over the expansion of gambling for the Seminole casinos in the state.
In a letter to Florida Governor Charlie Crist, Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne said he would rather see the two sides reach an agreement than have the federal government enforce rules that would allow the Seminoles to start Las Vegas style gaming.

France to be Sued by European Union Over Gambling Advertising

The European Commission, an executive arm of the European Union, today threatened court action against the country of France, saying that unless France changes a law banning foreign gambling advertising they will pursue legal action.
The EC says that the French law threatens or otherwise imposes criminal sanctions on chief executives of sport betting companies based in other EU nations, and has damaged sponsorship agreements in football, including Unibet.

The latest casino that will apparently have ownership change hands is Binion's casino. The MTR Gaming Group, which currently owns Binions, announced today that an agreement has been reached with TLC Casino Enterprises Inc. to sell Binions for $32 million in cash.

For the majority of their existence the community has lived on the reservation, rarely leaving to pursue much of anything at all. PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP has released a study that focuses on the gambling industry around the world, and its findings are that there will be increases in rthe industries worth over the next four years.
Figures released in the report claim that in the year 2011, the global gambling industry could be worth up to $144 billion, after a compounded growth rate of 7.2%. That figure is up from the current # of $101.6 billion.

Right at the WTO deadline and a day after the EU expressed their desire for compensation from the US over their illegal Internet gambling ban, Antigua and Barbuda claimed today it is entitled to $3.44 billion a year in compensation from the US until the US complies with the WTO ruling.
The compensation would be in the form of Antigua withdrawing intellectual property protection for U.S. trademarks, patents and industrial designs, the government said in an official statement.
