Stanley Ho and his sister Winnie Ho have been at odds for a long time. When Stanley revelaed that he was going public with his Sociedade de Jogos de Macau Holdings company, Winnie quickly launched a legal battle.
She asked the court to stop the company from going public. That challenge was quickly defeated in court and Stanley can now move along with his plans.
There still will be a delay in the plans to bring the company public.

Brian Schaedlich was just a school teacher looking for a way to spend his summer vacation. He decided one way would be to attend and participate in the World Series of Poker. Whatever his expectations were coming in, they have changed after two days of play.
Schaedlich is the overwhelming chip leader after day 2a. He has over a double chip stack lead on the player that is closest to him. That is good news, but he knows it is still to early to relax.

Casino stocks used to be the closest thing to a safe bet as was available through the stock market. Casino gambling in Atlantic City and Las Vegas would go on no matter what state the economy was in.
Times have changed for casinos, however, and it has caused a change in their stock value as well. They no longer are the sure bet answer for stock gamblers looking to make money.

The Milwaukee Brewers have been looking up at the Chicago Cubs for the entire season so far this year. They are gambling on C.C. Sabathia to change that and deliver them a World Series title.
Sabathia is the reigning American League Cy Young award winner. He no longer pitches in that league, however, after being traded to the Brewers early on Monday.

The North Shore casino project that has been in the works from Don Barden hit a snag a few weeks ago. Barden did not have the financing to complete the job secured, leading to many workers stopping their work on the project.
In the weeks since, Barden has redesigned his finance plan and is ready to move on with the project. He still must get the approval of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on Thursday for the plan to move forward.

The World Series of Poker Main Event is toughest in the first four days. Every day in the first four, players compete with thousands of other just to make it to day two. This year was no different.
6,844 players came ready to try their skill at this year's World Series of Poker Main Event. The prize pool has been set and over $9 million will go to this year's champion. The total prize pool was $64,333,600.

House leader Marco Rubio could have been sleeping well this week after emerging victorious in his battle with Governor Charlie Crist over casino gambling expansion for the Seminole Indians.
What he should have been doing, however, was losing sleep over where he and his fellow victorious Legislatures are planning to come up with the tax money that was promised through the Seminole compact.

The Turtle Creek Casino in Williamsburg was being built with the mindset that it should cater to everyone. The gamblers should be happy, as should the shoppers and the food buffs.
In designing the new casino all of those aspects were taken into serious consideration. They did not want to just be known as a gambling establishment. They have pulled off the feat of catering to everyone.

Major League Baseball will be gambling on the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago Cubs to help draw interest for this year's game. Each of those two teams will be represented by seven players.
The weirdness will begin before the game.

The World Series of Poker Main Event does not really begin until Phil Hellmuth makes his grand entrance. Last year it was a NASCAR suit with all of his sponsors on it that he wore on his first day of the tournament.
This year, Hellmuth waited until the last day to make his entrance and he did not disappoint. He came wearing an army general suit with one star for each of the eleven bracelets he has won.

The ban that has been placed on online gambling in America is bordering on absurdity. The way the current law is set up, it is asking the banks to police themselves in dealing with transactions from gambling websites.
While the law is ridiculous, it is still the law. Poker players at the World Series of Poker are hoping that law soon changes, and they believe their man to lead them to that change is Barack Obama.

Roger Federer was embarrassed last month when he was thoroughly outplayed by Rafael Nadal in the finals of the French Open. Most would have thought that Nadal was ready to claim the number one spot in the world of men's tennis.
That theory will be tested once again tomorrow. In order for Nadal to finally slay the giant that has been Federer, he must win on a surface that is not clay. The Wimbledon final provides that surface.

The Seminole Indians were faced with a dilemma on Thursday morning after the Florida Supreme Court ruled to void the compact that was signed between the Seminoles and Governor Charlie Crist.

The last few tournaments before the Main Event at the World Series have come to a close. Marty Smyth became one of the last few bracelet winners before the Main Event when he won the World Championship Pot Limit Omaha tournament.
The buy in for the tournament was $10,000 and it had a field of 381 players. Smyth emerged victorious over Peter Jetten and Michael Mizrachi. He took home $859,549 for the win.
Mizrachi came up just short of making history at the WSOP.

North Carolina had high expectations when it came to a state gambling lottery. They expected people to spend large amounts of money and had lofty goals of how much money would be generated.
Today it was revealed that for the first time ever, the state has reached their goal for a fiscal year from the lottery. The fiscal year ended on Monday, and the North Carolina Education Lottery gave the state $350,012,385.

Las Vegas casinos apparently liked the results they received by bringing legal action against former basketball star Charles Barkley. Once Barkley paid his debt, they moved on to Adam Jones.
Now, the Wynn Las Vegas casino is going after another celebrity. Joe Francis made millions by gambling on half naked girls with his 'Girls Gone Wild' empire. Apparently, he lost a couple of those millions gambling at the Wynn and has not paid them.

The Las Vegas Sands Corp. is the largest casino company in the world. Even the biggest sometimes need some help. The company could be borrowing $7 billion to expand in the new gambling capital of the world, Macau.
The company has not confirmed the loan as of yet, but sources say that the deal will happen. The Sands Corp. will be looking to refinance debt and expand in Macau with the money from the loan.
Las Vegas Sands is in the middle of massive expansion.

Louisiana casino have been dealing with a lot of adversity over the past few years. Many of the state's casinos were devastated in Hurricane Katrina, and have taken a long time to recover.
The casino received some good news finally this month. Casino revenue has jumped ten percent in May over the previous month. At a time when many casinos in the country are seeing declining numbers, the news was good for Louisiana casinos.

The New York Mets went out and did what they felt was necessary in the off season to win a National League title. They added the best pitcher in the game in Johan Santana, and made a trade for Ryan Church and Brian Schneider.
Now, less than a month away from the all star game, the Mets are a team in danger of falling out of the race
for their own division, much less a National League Championship.

That is now the case for the owner of Philadelphia Park Casino and Racetrack. The owner, Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment Inc., has been hit with an $18,000 fine from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

The Boston Celtics had one of the most dominating regular seasons in NBA history this year. They battled through the playoffs and arrived to face the Los Angeles Lakers in the finals.
Even after their great season, many people were gambling that the Lakers would win. Right now, the Celtics are in the process of making all those gamblers look foolish.
Boston came back from twenty four points down in game four to take a three to one series lead.

The Tropicana Casino and resort had some tough times after William J. Yung took over as the owner. Within a year, he had severely slashed his employees, and the casino was in rough shape in both appearance and revenue.
In December, Yung lost the rights to the casino after the owner was stripped of his gaming license by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission. Since then, the casino has been being run by former state Supreme Court Justice Gary Stein.

Two journalists that helped to uncover illegal gambling that was taken place on soccer games within the Vietnamese government, have been arrested. They have not yet been charged, but authorities arrested them for writing false information.
Ministry employees were at the center of the scandal. Several government officials were convicted in the scandal. Nine people in total were convicted.
European soccer matches were the games being gambled on.

American Idol has once again traveled the country to try and find the most talented vocalists for their show. This week, there are only three of those finalists left, and they are singing tonight for two spots in the finale.
Next week, the two remaining finalists will go head to head to try and become the next American Idol. There will be a grand stage, and millions of people will be watching on television.
