Doyle Brunson is one of the greatest poker players of all time, his latest endeavor has been endorsing Doyles Room, an online poker site, which after over six months, is re-entering the U.S. market.
Many of the top online poker sites bolted out of the U.S. market as soon as it became apparent that the government was going to try and interfere with the legal running of the online poker industry. Doyles Room was one of those sites.

Pennsylvania is now the latest state to open up to the idea of casino gambling, as, no Monday, the state oversaw the opening of the first stand alone casino, the Mount Airy Casino Resort.
It was a bittersweet day for the casinos owner, Louis DeNaples, who was excited about the opening of the casino, but has to still be cautious about the pending investigation of a grand jury.

Starting a couple Mondays from now, some of the top professional poker players along with one extremely successful businessman will sit down at a table where the buy in is $500,000, and will compete for over $5 million.
High Stakes Poker 4 will air over seven episodes and the action is surely to be more intense than in previous years, and that was the intention as the buy in was raised from $100,000 to $500,000.

It used to be that men dominated the game of poker, and while they were out playing cards at night, women were home watching the kids and tending to the house.
This is not the scenario anymore, as women are becoming much more prevalent in a game that men once dominated.
Women that play cards used to be few and far between, but now, with the immense popularity of poker and through its television exposure, women have caught on to the game just as much as the men.

Dallas had started the season at 5-0 and, last week, was looking to solidify their place as one of the best teams in the NFL. Of course, that did not happen, and now the Cowboys are just holding on to being the best team in their division.
The New York Giants started the season slowly, losing their first two games, but now after winning four straight, the Giants look like a team to compete for not only a divisional crown, but a conference championship.

Tennessee had high hopes coming into this season, if not a national title, then at least a shot at getting back to the top of the SEC, now those goals are in focus as they try to go on the road and defeat a tough Alabama team today.
Alabama has been a team that not many knew what to expect out of this season. They lured Nick Saban away from the NFL and the Miami Dolphins, and hoped he could work magic with a once proud program that has been down the past few years.

The Florida Gators are showing how quickly things can change in college athletics, their basketball team has won two straight national titles and their football team is the defending champions, so they should be the team to beat this year, right?
Not so fast. The Gators, after starting the season impressively, have now lost two straight games , and cannot afford to lose again if they are to keep their SEC title hopes alive.

In the midst of what is the most remarkable run in their sports history, the Colorado Rockies seem to be oblivious to any of the hoopla surrounding their brilliance.
The Rockies finished off a four game sweep of Arizona last night and that now makes seven straight games they have won to start this postseason, the most by any team ever.
Making this run even more amazing is the fact that Colorado has won 21 of their last 22 games.

The Poker World took news from a Pittsburgh courtroom tough this week, when judge Richard McCormick Jr. ruled that Poker was a game of chance and not skill.

As reported a couple months ago here at CGW, 888.com has begun to rebuild its business after pulling out of the U.S. market, their focus right now is developing a customer base for what they hope will be online Poker in the future.
Last year, 888.com pulled out of the United States market and it was thought that the company would either be sold or dismantled all together, now, after deciding to re-open, they have begun to take action from its Italian sports betting website.

Today, the Illinois State lottery has launched a program that they hope will reduce the number of problem gamblers in their state.

As we reported last year and earlier this year, the state of Delaware is considering allowing wagering on sports at the state's three casinos. Delaware remains one of four states that have sports wagering rights that were grandfathered in from a 1992 federal law banning sports gambling. The others are Nevada, Oregon, and Montana.

Although not being the only reason for the decrease in live Bingo games, the smoking laws have definitely been the driving force behind the games becoming less popular.

Today, there will be a couple NFC teams that were considered to be among the conferences best that will be playing games to turn around disappointing starts.
The Chicago Bears came up big last Sunday night when they defeated divisional rival Green Bay at Lambeau field to keep alive any hope of winning their division.
Now less than a week later, the Bears will again have to rise to the occasion as they once again face a divisional foe, Minnesota.

The LSU Tigers had been the favorites to be the #1 ranked team in the BCS, but then on Saturday the Tigers blew their chance as they lost to Kentucky and opened the door for Ohio State to be #1.
South Florida, who has never been ranked in any poll before this year, amazingly, they have played their way to #2 in the BCS.

After last seasons results for the New Orleans Saints, which included a run through the NFC playoffs, the expectations were extremely high coming into this year, now after starting the season win less, they are just looking to survive.
Sunday night the Saints will have another tough test as they face what appears to be one of the better teams in the league in the Seattle Seahawks.

This weekend is going to be tiresome for negotiators between Detroit's three casinos and the union for the workers they employ, as the clock is ticking on a contract that will expire on Tuesday at 11:59 P.M.
Negotiations are set to be taking place throughout the weekend and both sides are hopeful a deal can be in place before the old deal expires.

So far this college football season, one thing that has been learned is that any of this years top twenty five teams can be upset at any time. One team that has avoided the upset bug is the LSU Tigers, and that is why they are #1 in all the polls.

In Florida, the state is getting very close to opening the door to complete casino legalization, and that fact is not overlooked by operators of gaming establishments as they have begun to play the political game with politicians.
The latest quarter has recently ended (on September 30th) and the donation numbers are staggering. $840,000 was contributed to Republican campaign accounts from people with gaming interests from around the state.

The Comanche Nation Tribe has begun their preliminary efforts to get all of the design and construction teams in place to build their $97 million casino in Oklahoma.

Anyone who thinks that the game of poker is only for degenerates will get an awakening from this story. A New Jersey probation officer found the money too great to turn down and now will be facing possible jail time after running an illegal poker operation.
Gordon Ernst Jr. was released from jail on $25,000 bond on Wednesday after pleading guilty to running a poker game out of a gambling parlor on Delsea Drive in Westville, and will be free until sentencing on January 14, 2008.
